GOAL: A big day of birding along Southeast Arizona's Santa Cruz River
DATE: Monday, April 29, 2019
The trio will begin near the river's headwaters, which occur in the San Rafael Valley east of the Patagonia Mountains. While the river courses into Mexico, the team will make stops along the Santa Cruz's major tributary, Sonoita Creek. Additional birding-finding will occur in the vicinity of Kino Springs, Rio Rico, and Tubac. The team will likely wrap up the day at Simpson Farm, one of Tucson Audubon's habitat restoration project sites located on the Lower Santa Cruz (north of Tucson).
The Blue Line Birders endeavor to raise awareness for the Santa Cruz River, while demonstrating it's importance to bird life in Southeast Arizona. Supporters will be rewarded with an exclusive link to a short video that captures the journey and results of the day! Additional photos and videos will be posted to social media during the course of the event for all to enjoy.
