The Pima County Master Naturalists are excited to participate in this year's Birdathon. Consisting of cohort 10 members Kathryn Leavey, Julia Burnett, Michele Sheehan, Paul Mirocha, Barbara Jones, and Austin Brown, we hope to build our skills in birding while gaining a deeper appreciation for how birds fit into the natural world. Our team consists of not just individuals interested in nature, but of people involved in the conservation, teaching, and art. As Master Naturalists, the Birdathon is an opportunity for us to explore new ways of outreach and interpretation using these skills. 

It is our pleasure to play a role in the Birdathon because we recognize the valuable environmental work the Tucson Bird Alliance does, and their dedication to outreach. Many of us have already learned quite a bit about birding from this organization.

We plan to bird anywhere around Pima County, and perhaps beyond! We plan to go birding in urban areas and wild ones. Hopefully, we can set a benchmark this year for species observed and funds raised that can be surpassed by our team in future Birdathons.
