Louie Dombroski, Birder-in-Residence at Tucson Audubon's Paton Center for Hummingbirds here!

First of all, I'd like to thank everybody who has visited the Paton Center in the past year. I've enjoyed meeting so many enthusiastic birders from all over, and especially the new birders, and the unsuspecting visitors who become birders after seeing how fun, challenging, and rewarding birding can be!

I greatly appreciate all of the donations left in the "Sugar Fund" box at the Paton Center! In order to get additional support through Birdathon 2022, I'll be joining forces with indefatigable birding tour leader Skye Haas for a Big Day on May 5, 2022, a birding holiday for a good cause that we're calling Cinco de Myiarchus!

If you've already donated via one of the many other worthy Birdathon teams, please consider showing your support specifically for all Tucson Audubon does at the Paton Center by contributing any amount, no matter how big or small, via our team. Maybe one of our volunteer docents or myself has given you that tip that led to your lifer Ruddy Ground-Dove, or told you which feeder to watch closely for the next Violet-crowned Hummingbird visit, or shouted out a Zone-tailed Hawk flying over that you otherwise would not have seen. Maybe you've enjoyed watching butterflies in the Richard Grand Memorial Meadow or gotten excited after spotting a tiger salamander in the pond created and maintained by Tucson Audubon's Habitat Restoration Crew. What better way to show your appreciation than by a donation to celebrate Cinco de Myiarchus!

We'll reveal our species total after Birdathon ends on May 8. We could end up with a total of over 100 species and 150 is not impossible!

Thank you again for all your support in the past, and if you're able to offer more, for that too!

Pledges:

  • Gary Palmer: $0.25/species; Hope you gt that tufted fly!!
ABOUT Birdathon 2022

Birds have a unique, special, and different meaning to each of us. So, too, is each of our connection with Tucson Audubon Society personal and distinct. During Birdathon, we combine the love of bird watching during spring migration with support for bird conservation.

Birdathoners are birders and social fundraisers, joining together to make a difference for the birds and habitats of Southeast Arizona. Birdathoners continue a tradition that has held strong for over 30 years!

Each Birdathoner's personal network of supporters is what helps makes Birdathon possible.

Birdathon donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Tucson Audubon Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
