This is Peggy Steffens second year to participate in the annual Tucson Audubon Birdathon. Last year she saw 59 species, took 823 photos and raised over $1600. This year she is adding 2 new members to the team - Marie Davis and Andrea Serrano. Our goal is to raise $3000 to help protect birds and their environment. The dedicated staff at Tucson Audubon does so much to inspire people to enjoy and protect birds and their habit and it is why we feel it is so important to help their cause! They provide outstanding educational presentations and field trips, have programs to eliminate invasive plant species, plant 10,000 saguaro cactus seedlings to deal with the loss from the drought, and help birds like Lucy’s Warblers with their nest box program and so much more. All of the money donated stays in Tucson and the donation is tax deductible.

You have two ways to contribute and no amount is too small to help us achieve our goal. You can make a flat donation or you can pledge an amount to make us work even harder to find different species of birds. Last year people pledged additional amounts for the number of red birds, birds that began with a certain letter, or their favorite bird or animal and that made the day even more fun. For our Birdathon day, we plan to bird Sweetwater Wetlands, Madera Canyon and places in between.

• Peggy Steffens: $3/species, an exta $5 for every Phainopepla, and $25 for every life bird
• Denise & Butch Ryan: $1/species and $3/bird with purple feathers
• Clague Van Slyke: $1/species and an additional $5 for a photo of a Phainopepla
• Marcia Grand: $10/species; $5 for every active nest (building, eggs, sitting, etc); $10 for every species of identified snake; $5 for every species of identified butterfly; $50 for a turtle; an extra $100 if you ID 5 or more hummingbird species; $500 for one eagle
• Holly Kleindienst: $0.10/species, $5 for each Greater Roadrunner, and $0.10 for each Phainopepla
• Sant Kaur Khalsa: $2/species; $4 for every active nest (building, eggs, sitting, etc); $2 for every species of identified butterfly; and an additional $25 if you ID 5 or more hummingbird species

Birds have a unique, special, and different meaning to each of us. So, too, is each of our connection with Tucson Audubon Society personal and distinct. During Birdathon, we combine the love of bird watching during spring migration with support for bird conservation.

Birdathoners are birders and social fundraisers, joining together to make a difference for the birds and habitats of Southeast Arizona. Birdathoners continue a tradition that has held strong for over 30 years! 

Each Birdathoner's personal network of supporters is what helps makes Birdathon possible. 

Birdathon donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Tucson Audubon Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
